Gas ventless heaters do not require an external air source to provide heating. They use the oxygen inside the room for combustion. The exhaust produced due to their combustion process is minimal and therefore they do not require chimney or exhaust system for discharging the by-products of combustion out of the room. Since there is no exchange of inside and outside air, the loss of heat is negligible, which makes them an efficient heating source.
Gas ventless heaters are unique amongst most heating systems as they use either propane or natural gas as fuel. The main benefit of using such heaters is that they are portable and do not require an electricity source for operation. The disadvantage of using such heaters is that they use the oxygen of the room and discharge small amounts of carbon monoxide, the end product of the combustion process, which causes the danger of asphyxiation. To overcome this disadvantage, some of them come with oxygen sensors that get automatically turn on when oxygen level in the room is low.
There are different types of gas ventless heaters available these days. Depending upon the method of operation, they are of different types like radiant heaters, blue-flame heaters, and gas logs. You can choose from wall mounted, free standing, and portable heaters. Radiant heaters quickly heat up the spaces. They are widely used to heat large areas like warehouses and industries. Blue flame heaters work like a central heating system and are more appropriate for small spaces like homes and offices. Gas logs are not as efficient as blue-flame and radiant ones. They produce high amount of moisture and therefore can be used only in well-ventilated rooms.
They are convenient, cost-effective, efficient, and environment friendly. To avoid the build up of carbon monoxide and humidity, you should use such gas heaters in rooms that have good ventilation.
